I have talked to hubby.

He likes Shiloh ( I haven't decided on weather or not to use this spelling)

So now i need to know what nick names do you see for Shiloh.

He wants it as first name b/c he can't shorten it. I want it as a middle name.

My other two have longer first names and nick names, (others gave them) he doesn't want it to fall back on a Nick (lol) name.

Our last name is Dubois (its french i can't type it phonetically but it is NOT pronounced do boys)

So Nickolas Shiloh Dubois, which could be shortened to Nick Dubois or Shiloh Nickolas Dubois - Shiloh Dubois.?

I don't mind the nick names, I still spit out the full first (middle when needed) name.

He's like if they are going to get the nickname then use that name from the beginning ie Nick instead of Nickolas, where i don't care for Nick as a name but for a nick name its fine.

Shiloh Nickolas Dubois (sounds nice) It rolls off the tongue better.

You could call him Nickel for short if you go the other way (Nickolas Shiloh)

Actually, I had a friend in school named Shilo, and they just called him "Shy".. I like Nickolas Dubois, but for the spelling, perhaps 'Nicholas' Dubois is cool.

I would not use Shiloh for a boy because of the Jolie-Pitt kid - you know she will be all over the news forever and your son will have the same name? She is in his age group so everyone he grows up w/ will know it. If you have to use it for sure put it in the middle where he can hide it!

People are going to call your child shy. And it's do buah. If you want to avoid a nickname try for something with only one syllable. Lynn, or Amy, or Eric, or Josh. You are going to get a nickname unless you use a letter as a name. Pick something you like and what ever happens after that then oh well. My sister named her son 2 names and insisted everyone use both names. At school they only use his first, nothing she can do about it. Allowing a child to be comfortable with their name is part of a parent's letting go. If you don't like the name Jimmy, then don't name your child James, but if your son comes home with a friend who calls him Jimmy and he likes it then oh well, even if his name is Sam.

du-BWAH. Shiloh can easily be shortened to Shi or Shy.
Just my opinion, but I don't think Shiloh goes with Dubois. Sorry.

U most pick a name u like and about avoiding nicknames that is impossible but u don't have to use them if u don't like them or dad doesn't have to use them if he doesn't want to. Prime example is my daughter jade her cousin nicknamed her tomato or mater cause when she was a new born and cried her face would turn red. So relax pick a name u want to call the babe and let what happens happen with others.
