Ok my question is, will I make it into Berkeley?
I got 2.1s for the first and second semester of freshmen year

2.8 and 3.6 sophomore year

4.67 and 4.67 junior year

4 in ap chem.

5s in environmental science and US history

600 hours of community service

2100 sat score.

I wish I didn't **** up my freshmen year. It saddens me because my freshmen year grade is the cause of all this worry. Ever since then, I tried to redeem myself and it doesn’t seem to be enough. I feel like a waste of talent because I could have easily gotten 4.0s in those classes…… Nevertheless, is it possible for me to get into Berkeley or Davis?

Big state universities receive so many thousands of apps that they have to go by the numbers. Your app is going to get reviewed on the basis of the unweighted GPA from your academic courses. That is bad news as far as Berkeley is concerned. On the other hand, many smaller private universities take the time to really assess what is going on.
They can see that you are a smart kid who had an adjustment problem going into HS and that the problem is already dealt with.

Why not take a look at some other schools -- what about Pomona, etc or, if you are daring enough to leave your home state, what about schools like the little Ivies.... among the most elite schools, UChicago is famous for looking at people holistically - their amazing record of award winning graduates shows that they know how to pick'em.

Give yourself more room to expand... there are 4000 campuses in the USA. Many of those schools would be a good fit for you.

Into Berkeley? No. Your grades aren't good enough, and the rest of your application doesn't look all that great either. A few years playing sports and a bit of community service isn't nearly enough to make up for your lackluster grades.

Sorry if that's a bit harsh, but that's the way it goes. Too many qualified applicants.
