Where is the logic in that as the oil will end up on the world market regardless of who runs Iraq. American interests may well make a few billion dollars from their involvement but that is a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of the invasion. I think that the reason for keeping the US in a constant state of war is to maintain the flood of goverment dollars to the defence industries.

Actually, since it costs the Defense Dept so much to deploy forces they actually spend less on acquisition of weapons systems. Also, why would you think that we would go to war for economic reasons? Are you a liberal perhaps? Is it possible this war was about establishing a pro-western country right in the heart of the middle east, a region that has historically been a problem for us? Can you imagine how valuable Iraq could be to us strategically? Your question is an insult to every soldier who serves their country with honor.

If the war with Iraq is all about oil, then why aren't we getting it all now that we have occupied that country and why are we paying so much more for gasoline now? Even through America is paying for the rehabilitation of the Iraqi oilfields we are allowing them to sell their oil to whomever they please. Most of their oil is being sold to other countries besides the United States.

The real reason for the war is Iraq was a major sponser of international terrorism under Saddam Hussein. Isn't it odd that since the Iraq war started there hasn't been a major terrorist attack against the United States anywhere in the world. Before it seemed like there was one every few months. There must be something going on that is distracting those old terrorists. I wonder what it is?

Americans are a very patriotic people.Conspiracy theories aside,9/11 was very fortuitous to President Bush whose popularity was declining.Presidents in wartime always enjoy high ratings and the scenario this time was no different. As 9/11 was an attack on the US, war is a just response. The problem was you can only go to war against another country and at that point no clear evidence implicated any country.Hence the "War on Terror".Afghanistan did not prove to be worthy opponent and the terrain did not make for good media reports. This war did not have the desired result or drama to raise and appease the peoples expectations for retribution. The NSA therefore concocted Saddam's association to terrorist organisations. When this bait did not bite,WMD became the basis for war.
Iraq and Saddam, with its wide open country and a cruel dictator to boot was the perfect stage for a war and media spectacle.War was declared and the President's ratings hit the roof. The rest as they say is history and along the way of this (ill advised) war, to the "victor" comes the spoils.

As long as oil reserve depletes, American will not move away from Iraq. If that happens, a puppet government will be installed to do whatever at the whims and fancies of America.
American hegeminism has entered into Iran. The same fate awaits Iran.

i think the military industrial complex has certainly benefited from the war, and they were large bush supporters so there is a question of that as a reason.

but i would say that yes it was about oil, but i wouldnt say that it was as sinister a plan as some think.

what i think happened was that the economy was suffering after 9/11 and bush was afraid of what would happen if the ME decided to withhold oil.. it would get pretty ugly over here quickly

its disgusting that he would do that at the expense of other's lives, but it certainly wouldnt be the first time such a thing has happened

Probably but not for your stated reasons (and if so, it is a darn good reason). It is not a question of ownership of oil but one of preventing its use to blackmail the west and cause an economic unheaval that would make the Great Depression look good.

I believe the invasion of Iraq was about preventing a weapon of mass destruction attack on the United States. Saddam Hussein had enough duel use technology in Iraq that could create biological or chemical weapons.
