I use a wireless router to connect to the internet from my laptop. However, recently I haven't been able to connect and it says that there's a network cable unplugged under LAN. What does it mean and how can I fix it so I can connect to the internet from my laptop?

You should have two connections under the Network Places Folder.

One is going to be the LAN (Local Area Network) or cable driven connection.

The other should be your wireless connection.

If it is a laptop with an integrated wireless card. You might have to go into the wireless card through the Control Panel and enable the wireless signal.

To do this you need to goto the Control Panel, click on the network connections icon, under wireless connection right click to properties, click on the configure tab, advanced tab, and ensure the Radio is ON and not Off.

It sounds like your computer is no longer detecting your wireless router, and so is looking for a cable option in order to connect. Get out the manual for your router and read up on how to reboot it properly, and how to reinstall it if necessary. Also check the settings on your computer to make sure they haven't been changed in any way (some software programs can overwrite settings).

Make sure all the correct lights are lit up on the front of the modem, .....Unplug all the wires to the modem and unplug the power, shut down the computer for about 2 minutes then plug in the power to the modem and plug in all wires accept the cable, turn computer on and let it all load then plug in the Cable connection to the modem. Should work after a few seconds

it means the following:

1. your router is off
2. your cable is not properly plugged in your lan card (at the back of your computer).
3. your cable is not properly plugged in your router.
