Maybe but it would not be the life we know, If you could define an exact meaning of life and death you would have your answer
There would be no danger of overpopulation as the only reason we do that is to continue life. If there is no death then procreation is not necessary.
We base our concepts on life and death beacuse of how we view them. We think they are both a part of our "existence" as we frame it is terms we understand and can grasp - we are born - we live - we die. What happens after life we do not know ? What happens before birth we do not know ?
Maybe we are living a "life "without death through several existences or as some religions believe that we live a series of lives one after another only that we are not aware that we are doing it. But most believe that "existence" will eventually end as we either go back to nothingness or go on to a higher state of life.

think about it this way also since u like the philosophical stuff. If there was no such thing as down how could u really know what up is. everything in this world comes in pairs. without one you would have a hard time knowing what the other is. and contrary to the answer about no death in heaven. which although true isnt accurate. there is no life either. life and death are things of this world and pertain to the physical body. we hopefully will get to live with God but the life/death thing is only of this world

If there were no death then the world would be filled with all things which were born since the beginning
So crowded and lacking in resources we would suffer endlessly
I think Death is a important for maintaining our standard of living

What we currently call life, yes. But without death, I don't know that we would have any need to label things as "life" and "death" or that we would even have a concept of nonexistence.

Yes, because life and death aren't two different things... Death is just the absence of life, the same way darkness is the absence of light.

hmmm....tough on......
If you leave out the relegion..........
I think if you think about it......there could not be a death of the human spirt/soul.
I mean look at this.....
if you ever been to a funeral, You see the person, but something is missing.
if you are in a total dark room, and have on ear plugs, can't see or hear anything, you can still tell if someone got right up close to you even from behind. so to speak.....you feel them.
same gos for a dead body....... it;s the something that you don't feel.
there is a difference between looking at someone sleep, and someone dead.....even if you don't know.
to go further.....
if i took a knife and cut you..... you feel pain......it hurts and you know were......it's were the cut is........
But if your mother was the one I cut..,
were does it hurt then. it still hurts, but al you can say is inside,
people say they love someone....... and every one says with all my heart..... but your heart only pumps blood. to prove this take a heart transplant pactient. he is still the same person before and after.
The soul, if you yourself want to call it that, is life. at it's truest form.
it is who you are. it goes along with the other things i spoke of. hurt, love.....etc...you can't put a finger on them just as you can't your soul.
I know i'll get a lot of greaf about what i said, but i'm not talking relegion.......
I don;t see that ....THING........ that makes us, who we are dieing.
i look at the body as no more then a vehical to transport who we are around....
but it's just my thoughts....on a very deep question.
sorry...spell check would not work....and i suck at spelling.

Certainly - medically and metaphorically speaking .But do we have the resources to handle such a situation ? and ,would not be this more worth living , if we could decide the best physical shape, we can retain for ever . Wow, those beautiful women would not be rarity .
Seriously speaking , would there be need for re-creation if there is no cessation?
Make beauty immortal instead.

not life as we know it.
complex life exists thanks to evolution over countless years and countless successive generations. if the older generations never died, the younger generations would have to compete with them for resources, and sooner or later no more offspring would be able to survive.
the cycle of birth ... reproduction ... death is what keeps the life clock ticking.

if there was no death then what we are doing wouldn't be life,it would be something else.so i advise you to define what this other state of being might be and then ask the question
