Is the position determined by the lil "handle" of the petcock lever, or the other side?

Like in this pic http://faq.f650.com/FAQS/Photos/TankOffPhotos/Petcock.jpg would you turn it to the left or to the right for "ON"?

Its an 81 Kawa KZ750. Reserve is on the left, prime on top, and on is to the right, couldn't get a pic of it though

The position is determined by the other side. Think of the lil "handle" as the shaft of an arrow and the other side, the tip. turn the handle to the right for reserve and the opposite direction for off.

Your hand would block the words
What ever the lever is pointing, to and the word is visible, is the position of the petcock.
