Looks like I dropped in in the middle of some kind of argument about the Bible. Good! I love arguments, but there's no argument about this one:

The Bible says that Moses led the way but he never got in, because he hit a rock twice instead of speaking to it like he was told to do.

Jesus of the New Testament said to love one another and keep the commandments, and God of the Old Testament said to keep the commandments and do exactly as you're told to do. A preacher told me that, In a world of perfect love and perfect obedience to God, there would be no contradiction between the two commands.

The settlers from North Africa to the land of Phoenecia (Canaan) were racists. Despite the god rhetoric, they were likely leaving Egypt for religious differences and settling into new lands that were livable. They chose Phonecia because it had an established society had already created cities, townships, and economy. It's likley that what became Isreal was only a small part of Phonecia, but they went there for the same reason all settlers look for a "New World", for financial reasons, for riches, preferably from people who've already established themselves, because it's easier to steal what you need than to build from scratch.
