Hands down, artificial is the best way. There are a lot of ways to do it, including creams you use at home, Magic Tan booths that spray you with the tanning solution, and day spas that expertly apply self tanner all over you.
Real tanning, either from sunlight or UV tanning beds, not only can cause skin cancer, but is a huge contributer to aging. Every time you tan, the UV rays are damaging your skin cells, which makes then get wrinkles faster. It is good to be exposed to sunlight for a few minutes a day, because your body uses it to make vitamin D.

Artificial is definately better for you because there are no cancer/wrinkle causing UV rays involved. The fake tanning has vitamins and other good things for your skin to keep it healthy, and after 10 years you won't look like a prematured wrinkled leather bag with skin cancer. My sister is addicted to the tanning salon, she's been going for years almost everyday, she can't get any darker but yet she feels like she's pale. And she had a strange looking mold removed from her leg and she was so scared it was cancer, thank God it wasn't. To look at her you would think she was 50ish, but she's only 41, people think I'm 29/30 and I'm going to be 40 this Nov. The age difference between my sis and I is 18 months. That's the difference between real tanning and fake tanning. A lady at the gym asked her if I was her daughter, she was so upset because she looks alot older due to her love of the UVs but still went tanning. Some people just don't learn.

These days the safest way is artificial. The best way? I suppose it depends on the person. I always found that I tan much much faster in the sun. However, I do not recommend sunbathing. There are many products today that contain 'gradual tanners' so you can develop a 'natural-looking' tan over time.

Don't do it at all. I was never big on tanning and didn't get out in the sun much, but still managed to get skin cancers. I am fine, but believe me it's not worth it. Use the creams and sprays that are on the market these days if you really think you must have a tan.

Artificial!! The sun is so bad for your skin. It'll age you sooner, and can cause skin cancer. Sunless Tanning Oils are great. You have to find the best one for your skin. You do want it to look natural. And spray tanning is another great way to go, but it's more expensive. Good luck!

I'd say natural because tanning beds or booths are made to speed up the process

well the key is everything in moderation. either way you can end up with cancer so not really sure what to suggest. but i do know being in the sun makes your body produce vitamin D which is good. personally, i live in florida and im a slave to the sun and beach :)
