Think carefully before answering this question please. Than, what is your definition of a free world? (I'm writing a book so your opinion counts and greatly appreciated. Leave your age if you want recognition. Thank you.)

No, we don't. It's not really possible if you want a functioning human society. Aside from that, again no, we don't. Contrary to what us Americans say, we're not free and have either never been or not for a really long time. Anyone who would preach the free-ness of the U.S. has never been outside of this country, or is deluded. People like to think they are free, but we're all just a bunch of capitalist slaves. I know I'm going to answer a question with a question, but it can be rather illustrative. What would happen if you thought you were free enough that you didn't want to pay for your overpriced car anymore? What would happen if you had cancer and wanted to be treated by non-mainstream "naturalist" methods? What would happen if you openly castigated Jewish people and their history? How free are you when you can't take a drink of water without paying for it, in several states already? How free are you if you can't take a drink of water without being force-medicated?

Yeah, we live in a country of laws. But beyond those laws, you are not free to be whatever you want to be, unless you have loads of the one thing that can buy freedom, and that's money of course.

Nope, not at all. The land of the free is dead. The only thing free is our right to choose and the air we breathe. These "free" rights are available in ALL countries. Everything else costs money. We do NOT live in a free country anymore.

Not as free as I would prefer. I have taken advantage of the freedoms available and I like it, though. Best government system found to date.

kinda depends on how you define free. if it were up to some people they'ld be walking down the street nude smoking a joint and having sex at mcdonalds. No there is no such thing as a completely free country to be completely free u'ld have anarchy. but we do live in what i would call a controlled free country.

Well technically, we live in a limited (freedom) country...
We have all humane rights... right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...

But we do live around other people... therefore the rights to free speech is limited... like obscenities, symbolic speech, visual speech, nonverbal speech...

And then we also limit the dangerous actions of a human being, like ages to drink, buy guns, etc...
we outlaw all the harmful substances, like drugs...

there are several limitations... but if you think about it, US is the most free country on this planet.

basically on a relative scale. we are extra loose than many different international locations, yet a lot of our freedoms are nevertheless heavily regulated. And Ron Paul's assertion is out of date, via fact the DC circuit overturned the DC gun regulations some days in the past.

I am 22 years old.

No it is not totally free.

There are limitations of our freedom. Such as limitations on free speech especially in the schools. Limitations on who you can marry. Limitations on your choice to live or not (assisted suicide). Limitations on what kind of Dog you want to have. Limitations on what you can wear (ex. trying to ban baggy pants in certain cities. Limitations on your personal privacy. As time goes on we are losing more and more of our freedom. There are probably more that I can not think of.

Freer than most.

People are too afraid of real freedom. Many like the government to tell them what to do and no, it aint the liberals.

I'm fortysomething.

We live in a controlled and manipulated country.

If you write too much of the truth in your book and back up your analysis with facts, it won't get published.
