The Adventures of Alexander Botts - A compilation of short stories from the Saturday Evening Post dating from the late 1920's, 1930's and early 1940's - They were told in the form of letters between Alexander Botts - Salesman of Earthworm Tractors and the Earthworm Tractor Company headquarters. Alexander always worked hard and was industrious and between those traits and blind luck he came out on top every time. The stories are detailed and the correspondence style of story telling is both nostalgic and a tremendous plot device. The stories are also a wonderful time capsule for America at the end of the great depression and into the second world war. Alexander is a brilliant character and worth the read.

I started reading the Nancy Drew Mysteries when I was about 9 or 10 and they definitely started my love for books. Also The outsiders in the 9th grade.

The Sketch Book by Washington Irving was my favorite book. I also liked The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken and the rest of the books of that series, especially Nightbird on Nantucket. The House with a Clock in its Walls by John Bellairs was scary and fun to read as well.

Oh I remember reading the Judy Blume books and the choose your own adventure. Then there were these books but I don't really remember what they were called about birthstone princesses. I just remember that they came with little rings and that my favorite was the ruby princess because that was my birthstone.

Definitely the "Chronicles of Narnia" series. Began reading these at about 7 years old and was just taken aback by them. This is all I remember really reading at that age, but it helped me, I believe, to be a fairly decent reader in school and after. Later on in my teens it was a Stephen King obsession...

WELL... LAST YEAR I BEGAN TO READ A BOOK CALLED "MONSTER". IT WAS BASED ON A BOY WHO WAS SENT TO JAIL FOR A ROBBERY AND DEATH AT A LIQOUR STORE IN HARLEM. HE KNEW THAT HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING, BUT THE JUDGE THOUGHT HE WAS PART OF THE CRIME. THIS BOOK IS HALF- STORY-HALF-MOVIE. IT IS REALLY GOOD BECAUSE IT TALKS ABOUT HOW HE FELT BEING IN JAIL AND WHAT IT WAS LIKE IN THERE.
