If you left "the vicinity of the bench" to do it, you would be suspended for the next game.

It all depends on the circumstances. If it was purely accidental and involved no carelessness, then in justice nothing should happen. For instance if he ran into you and fell down and died or you fell down and he fell over you. If you threw the basketball to him during a game and he was looking away it could be unintenional manslaughter. If you threw the ball at his back it could be intentional manslaughter. If you attacked him it would be murder. If you brought a weapon to the game it would be premeditated murder. The circumstances of a death affects the seriousness of the charges.

What will happen? Anything from nothing at all, to jail time and in some places the death penalty for premeditated murder.

It depends, is David Stern in charge of the pick-up game? If so, nothing except you would be out for 1 or 2 games, but if you happen to kill Stern's favorite sons, Kobi and Timmy Duncan, you might be kicked out of basketball, but you will be ok because most fans will pay for your Defense because you got rid of the two biggest crybabies in the league!

If you play for the San Antonio Spurs, you might get it upgraded to a Flagrant One after the game.

That depends on whether you did it intentionally in which case it would be murder or if you did it unintentionally but recklessly, i.e by a dangerous act, in which case it would be manslaughter. Either way you're looking at some jail time.
P.s. I wouldn't advise it as your question itself suggests intention.

Umm, actually it would be SECOND degree murder, but it really depends on how you do it. If you're on a playground and you accidently kill someone, like his head gets knocked into a pole via a hard foul, I doubt you'd be arrested.
