they start asking how you are, and what you've been up to. They know your name, but you have no clue who they are. They reach out to hug you. What do you do?

Hug. Just happened to me a little while ago. And she's my boss. I have no idea who she is but she knows everything about me. We've apparently met and she knows allot of my close friends but I still don't know who she is.

step back, say "oh, don't do that, I've got a horrible cold (or whatever)" and get away as fast as I can...knowing I'm probably going to remember who they are in a few days...at 3 a.m. ... while I'm trying to sleep! I work in a very popular print shop, and though I'm not a front counter person, I'm visible a lot, and people know me that I have NO clue who they are - they'll stop me in the grocery store and ask for prices on stuff!

hug them back back,because i know a lot of ppl that i haven't seen in a long time and they remember me,like i was in the store the other day and ran into a black friend of mine,and dropped the bag of ice and knocked some candy down,and we was hugging each other in the store and the owner was laughing at us.that made us all very happy.

I would step back and say "I'm sorry, but I don't remember you." No sense standing there like a ninny. Besides, I'd really want to know who they are, since they obviously seem to know me.
