Jesus says, u will always have the poor with u, but offer money to god directly thru the temples is another matter. Though, as is the fact, the temple is mostly isolated from god. How would the poor charitable public know which temple is connected to god and which is isolated?

Temples or Churches are hopefully equipped to better handle the money or tithes. Sure we can go out to a homeless camp and give the guys 100 dollars worth of food and some blankets but all it takes is one bad seed in that homeless camp to ruin the gift. He'll take all of it to trade for drugs. I have seen it happen as this is a ministry I am involved in with my church. Also, not all churches or temples have the same standards with their money. Maybe too many these days are trying to get rich and look fancy but there are those humble churches out there that truely want to make a difference. It takes money to do it. My church for example will cook a meal after church on Sunday and all the homeless guys are welcome to come. No strings attached. We don't try and Bible thump them. But the best reason is the the Bible says to give your tithe to the church.

Hmm....because rather than pay for someones beer or drugs i go with my church to build a house for a poor family that is struggling to survive not because they wasted all their money on drugs. There are so many programs out there to help the poor and most are so set in their lifestyle that they don't want to attempt to make it on their own they would rather beg for the hand down.

im guessing ur talking about buddhism temple. i wondered the same thing too cuz my parents and family always donate money to the temple. they think the family will get good karma points for doing that. so basically its all about the family and the karma belief.

and about why not donating straight to poor people. if u do that then u donate to organization that represents poor ppl. but for buddhists, they feel their gettin more karma points if the Gods are witnessing their good doing.

yup, its called bieng brainwashed my the money making machine.

Some places will even call you "unfaithful" if you spend your "tithe" somewhere else

my preacher yelled at his congrigation about that very subject.

The next day I became an atheist. Sorry, but I was completely offened and I knew that god was not there and had never been there. I was lied to and I never turned back.

oh wait yes I did.
So I went to this church. not a great church, but a church. started hanging with the preachers daughter, and made it into the preachers house at night with the duaghter........ preachers wife had just died in a car wreck months before..........and guess who comes walking down the hall as I'm trying to sneak in but little miss youth leader (in her 30's) in her undies.................uhhhhmmm naughty naughty and not even married. hmm

Oh by the way the house was BEAUTIFUL, brand new BIG screen TV. hell of a lot better lookin pad than the church, plus little preachers daughter also had a brand new mustang on her 16th birthday, guess where the money came from?

plus they sold some land around the church (on a heavily traffikd road) = $$$$$

I never heard of any help for the homeless this church performed unless it was on the backs and sweat of the congrigaction again!

And poor people will just waste it. Why do you think they are poor. Did you see what happened when the government gave money to Katrina victims.

All temples, churches, mosques, are about control and money. And any other name for a religious building.
