I have read as many as 5 novels in one week and I am not a religious fanatic, but I gotta say that when I read the Bible from cover to cover, I was so amazed and changed as a result. It's got everything. I was shocked that it wasn't preachy--it was not at all what I thought it would be. It was, for the most part, a great history book. Revelations scared the **** out of me.

Hm.. I surely can't pick purely one, yet those are my favorites, and maximum of them are inspirational (a minimum of to me) not right away: conflict Royale, in which a kind of scholars in a dystopian eastern-esque society are in actuality placed on an island and compelled to kill one yet another off until eventually one continues to be. plant existence for Algernon, in which a mentally challenged guy undergoes an experimental operation that enhances his intelligence. Harry Potter.. i'm confident you recognize what that's about. A Separate Peace, in which a prep college boy struggles with paranoia and jealousy related to his familiar perfect chum. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, which describes the reports of a guy in a psychological organisation at the same time as a rebellious new guy tries to crack the tyrannical rule of the top nurse.

The Bible, hands down, because of these reasons:
1) It claims to be true, a message from our Creator -- does the information ring true to you personally? 2) It is a collection of narratives -- what were the motives of the writers? What are their blind spots (some of the O.T. is pretty egocentric...) 3) If (or given) the Author is God, is everything meant to be taken literally, or are some ideas "non-examples"... 4) Why is some information included?
You can push a divine book a little harder than something created by any mere mortal... :-)

What do you find interesting? We may have conflicting definitions of what is fun to read. However, for pure entertainment, James Thurber is the best.
"Cosmicomics" by Italo Calvino is also a book that I highly recommend. Very different.
