Subconscious mind is illogical. We do certain things out of conscious mind, whereas most of our actions are dependent on the subconscious mind. They are like reflex action in some ways, but different in more ways. In case of reflex action, there is some action or disturbance in or around you, and before you know or you have realised it, your body reacts to the disturbance. But immediately after the reflex action, you know that the body has reacted immediately. However in case of subconscious behaviour, most often, our conscious mind is not even aware that we are reacting to certain sub conscious stimuli.

The Sub-conscious is not a body whose existence, and if exists, which is to say that it does, is known in the Western Hemisphere. It is real and does have its realm thereto. Each function -- whether we observe or not -- has its own expression. The physical body has its, which we affirm, validate, and know.
LIkewise, the emotions has its corresponding body, or emotional body -- in the Western Hemisphere often called the Astral body.
Above this is still others, of which one is the Subconscious.
The subsconscious is indeed an inner body, the uppermost realm in truth of the mental body, and is scarcely as primordial or reflexive as one has been led to arrogate it is.
It is the reservoir of thought unformed, the very essences of thought or mind stuff itself.
What we mistake for the Subconscious is in fact more commonly the workings of the Emotional body, an extremely powerful shell, again popularly called the Astral body, which of itself has an upper porton or realm and thus corresponding sheath as well.
Freud's take on the Subconscious was so far behind the band that he didn't even hear the music on the matter, much less did he have any the insight or first hand dimensional knowledge and experience with it except insofar as what he gleaned from somewhat remove; and that, only from out of the lower realm of the same body -- the mental body, a body we are somewhat well familiar with, for we use it, however poorly, here in the physical realm.
The grand twist to this all is, these inner bodies must be aligned that we can come to know them, for at the top of them all resides the Soul body Itself , or just plain Soul, for It cannot be made something objective. You are Soul and you possess, or better, you lease, the lower or inner bodies while here in the lower or dual universes, heavens, and worlds.
And beyond a threshold, Soul no longer takes any form whatsoever. It just is -- a mighty being and view point whose capacities well exceed the Mind's compass to approach IT.

Hello:
There is no definite definition to this question.
The term 'subconscious' is a concept that attempts to explain various levels of mind and thought beyond that which we are aware, or in contorl of.
There is printed matter available on experiments and their results involving the subconcious that you could read and draw your own conclusions.
I suggest you read paperbacks written by Dr. Maxwell Maltz in order to further your understanding of this very interesting subject.

you are stealing a pen because you don,t have one. your action in stealing made the other one not having one. your sub conscious thinks about my second sentence and your regular conscious thinks about my first sentence.

an area of the mind one cannot be entirely aware of, but that still exerts some influence on one's thinking and actions.

Non-existent.
Freud's concept was a metaphor for that which we lack awareness of -- and often by choice.
