I just read the pre story to Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli and I noticed near the end it said " 1 part fact, 2 parts fiction and 3 parts snowball." What does this mean?

That's what magic is - the elements you can see, the parts you can't and when you put them together, they synergize, thus giving you a sum that is greater than the parts!

I have not read the book yet, but I'll give it a shot.

It has to do with telling a story. '1 part fact' refers to the best stories having a grain of truth in them. '2 parts fiction' is just the author disguising the actual events. '3 parts snowball' is all the believable BS to make the story interesting; the window dressing if you will.

I think"one part fact", means that the author made it by a real boy that this story happened in real life.

I think "two parts legend legend" means that this story is not true, but the author changed the story from real life to a new legend story.

I think "Three parts snowballs" means that the story is getting bigger and bigger.
