My back porch gets direct morning sunlight. Anything I've put out there has burned up. Now I want to try the Cosmos flower. Are their any suggestions for plants that will take direct sunlight?

You need a deep planter with plenty of moisture. I am assuming that your plants are in deck planters not the actual earth?!?!?!
I don't think it is the actual sunlight, but if your plants are in planters in the deck. water is the MOST important thing.
Then with so much watering the planters on the deck...you need extra fertilizer to keep the plants fed.

Cosmos will do fine but why dont you also try Sunflowers. They are called Sunflowers for a reason and there are beautiful varieties that only grow about 16 inches tall and produce a profusion of blooms. Because of their nature, they can take a lot of sun, heat and even bad watering. They wilt to let you know they need water and will bounce right back once they get a drink. I absolutely love these flowers and plant them every year.

Cosmos do well with direct sunlight. Make sure that you keep them watered well. My dad gave them a name of their own when we were kids, he named them Jungle Flowers...... and we still call them by that name, even after 35+ years.
