Lizards is pretty much a common name for reptile, but the family is large. Geckos are a member of the lizard/reptile family as they are a lizard, but there are many other lizards that are not geckos. Bearded dragons, blue tongued skinks, anoles, chameleons, plated lizards and thousands of others are lizards/reptiles, but they are not geckos, just part of the family.

Well, "gecko" is a term for a certain family of lizards. They are lizards. The way you can tell a gecko from a regular lizard is actually very simple. If the lizard has a head that is about as thick as its body (or you can tell its head from its neck easily) it's a gecko. If its head is small and the width of its neck, it is just a regular lizard.

lizards usually refers to anything green, scaly, and with tail...most people associate lizards to iguanas, geckos, and anoles. this is too generalized of a term because each "lizard" has completly different housing, food, and care requirements.
