So the sentence should read...

Dispersion results when the __Angle_ of light in a material, and hence the refractive index of that material, varies with the _wavelength_ of light.

This is how prisms work. Different wavelengths result in the light passing through at different angles. Each color has a different wavelength so it comes through a prism seperated by color.

Speed ... frequency/wavelength

The speed of light in a material defines the refractive index; this depends on the frequency, which is the same as saying it depends on wavelength. But note that when characterizing light by wavelength, we understand wavelength in vcacuum
