For the life of me I can't seem to figure this out. I don't know if it's some trick question or there isn't even an answer. I'll post it as it was sent to me by my son

"Lindsya and Mark, after recieving their test scores had the same two digits in reversed order. The difference between the scores was 1, while the sum of the digits of each score was 15. If Lindsay scored higher, what were the two scores?

If there is an answer please show me what you did to come up with the solution so I can show him and myself, lol.

I think there is a mistake in the problem.
If the scores are 78 and 87 then the digits add up to 15 but the difference should be 11.
If the difference is 1 then the problem doesn't make any sense.

I can get the answer if the difference between the digits in the scores is 1, would be 87 and 78, but that answer does not satisfy the statement. I do not think there are any two consecutive digits that when reversed represent a difference of 1, the difference between the two scores would always be 9. Would say the answer is N or there is misinformation, and it should say that the difference between the digits of the scores is one, than it would work out right.

There is no solution to the problem as stated.
If you take any 2 digit number with distinct
digits, reverse the digits and subtract, the
result is always a multiple of 9.
The difference can never be 1.

One answer is 4/12. or you could desire to apply 8/24. The question is basically worded weird and wonderful. it is extremely asking for a fragment the place once you divide the denominator by utilising 3 you get the numerator.

L's score is 10T + U
M's score is 10U + T

(10T + U) - (10U + T) = 1
T + U = 15

This is 2 equations in 2 unknowns which I leave for you to solve.
