what gives? I always thought the world was the white person's oyster. So why the high suicide rate?

Statistics are unreliable. Statistics can be fudged in either direction, positive or negative.

White person's oyster? I should have remembered that when I was denied employment in favor of non-whites who weren't qualified. (And, yes, I know this for a FACT.) I should have remembered that while I was homeless. I should have remembered this while I was hungry and couldn't get assistance because, for some reason, the non-white beside me at the social services office was a bigger priority even though he didn't have dependents either.

Am I playing the blame game? Not at all. I'm making a point... That point being that I'm tired of the damned blame game. This is NOT my world. I get no special treatment for being "white", and I'm sick of people treating me as such. I've never had it easy. Life has never been any easier for me than other poor people. Think you know different? Then step into my world. I bet that you wouldn't be able to handle it regardless of your race. I'm so sick of this bull sh*t. I have the utmost respect for all people and what anyone may have endured, but such does not change the fact that race isn't the issue with regards to poverty. "The rich man" cares not for your race. You think differently? If so then you are a fool, in my opinion.

Neither Oprah nor Trump gives a sh*t about the color of your skin. If you think otherwise then you are going to be clinging to a nonsense dream for a long damned time.

P.S. I'm not mad at you $0.02. It isn't you... It's the whole damned world. It's so discouraging to know that so many people can't get past all these race issues.

The world is the White Man's Oyster? I grew up in an extremely poor family in NORTH CAROLINA. I dropped out of High School because, I couldn't afford to go anymore (this was public school) and, worked in a cotton mill, construction and, similar jobs until, I joined the ARMY. You have been misled. most white people are, poor or, middle class. I never even met a rich white person.A rich white person is, just as out of reach for Me as, a rich black person. You seem to look at a lot of corporate C.E.O's and, say to Yourself, all white people, are rich. well, I hate to interrupt Your self pity but, it just ain't so. as for the suicide rates, it is probably young white kids who, are also looking at these C.E.O's and, saying, that.s supposed to be Me. what did I do wrong? society has burned an image into our minds of, the "typical" rich white person when in reality, this model never really existed.

I think whites do not handle pressure as well as other groups. Failure is difficult too. Other nationalites has been taught about stress, failures all thier lives. I do not think this is so in the white community.

*******Oh hell, there they go with all those bogus numbers again...The pitiful thing is that I hope people do not believe some it, I looked some of those numbers up and it is not true, many are chopped up to be biased. So sad*****

Wow, the stats are mind-boggling. The bad thing is, I think it's only going to get worse. Here where I live we've had a bunch of young people committing suicide. It is so sad for the families. Last year a 6th grader committed suicide.

i don't think race has **** to do with it. race doesn't dictate wether life is difficult or not, or how a person deals with it emotionally if it is difficult. suicide comes from hopelessness. it isn't anything to joke about or ask superior sounding ?'s about it. can you possibly empathize with how desperate a person must be to consider that? what the hell does race have to do with that

Look at the CEOs in this country. Most of them are white men who make millions and spend millions. If that CEO title is taken away, they cannot cope without their millions. It's easier to end the life than face the critics. Look at the Great Depression and the men who leaped from buildings when the stock market caved. White men.
