It comes close to, Indio, San bernadino, Palm Springs, Palmdale, Parkfield (Eq capitol of CA), San Francisco, Fort Ross, and Point Arena Where it finally runs into the ocean for good. It is not really all that close to LA though, THere you have to worry about the Whittier fault which is under Los Angeles. But those are just a few cities and towns, I'm sure there are more.

Greater Los Angeles and Greater San Jose and Greater San Francisco--but if you're concerned about formal city limits, then you get a list of smaller sized communities such as :
