I know when you take a cold bath, you will stop bleeding. There is no law about what age you have to be to wear tampons that depends on you & your mother. I know lots of ppl will tell you that if you are a virgin you can't wear tampons but that is not true. You can always purchase 2 bathing suits. Get a bathing suit that has like a skirt around it so you can wear a pantiliner or pad if needed. No one will know except you. And don't let those people tell you that you can't swim while you are on your period because you can especially since you said you were going to a lake.

I wore tampons at 12, thats why they make them in different sizes. and no you don't stop bleeding, some people bleed more in the water some bleed less that's why it may seem like you stop. So look at it this way would you want to swim in somebody elses blood no matter how minute an amount?

Yes, you still bleed. Wear a tampon for your protection. Change your tampon after you finish swimming. Ask your parents if you might try using tampons. I allow and taught my 12 year old how to use them.

Generally speaking, the bleeding does not stop completely. It may subside somewhat, but it doesn't quite stop. Because you are at such a young age and "tampons" are out of the question, you need to be aware of your cycle and how long it generally lasts. If you feel that by this weekend your menses will have subsided enough to allow you to swim, then go for it. Otherwise you may need to wait until another time.

u absolutely r not 2 young 4 tampons. ur friends robably dont tell u but pads make u STINK. baddddd. tampons dont hurt. i was scared the first time but u dont feel them at all if they r in right. and u will bleed in the water. either u wear a tampon or dont go in. it will be very embarasing if blood starts comin out. it happened to me. not a pretty/smelly sight.

ps: pads smell!!!

hi.
good question.
and could we change terminologies from bleeding to leaking; bleeds make me think of wounds and being on one's period is definitely not a wound.
your aunt is right.
the principle of buoyancy will keep things in as long as you are in deep enough water. a word of caution, though: as soon as you're out of water, evidence of one's period so make that needed beeline line. So even sans tampon (it's good that you have a healthy body awareness) jump right into the pool and enjoy yourself.

Everyone is different! Most people stop bleeding but you might want to try to wear a tampon just in case. =)

you stop bleeding for 20 minutes or less wear a tampon in water.. when u get out it will pour down so wear one. then change it after.. when u take a bath it stops for like 15 minutes. excertion or excercise will make u bleed the minute u get out.
