NASA recently released data showing a massive ice melt in antarctica between 95 and 2005. the melt had occured 900 Km inland, and refroze before reaching the sea, but it was at high latitudes where they didn't believe it could melt, and this melting / refreezing can induce sheets to break off. Washington -In 2005, west Antarctica experienced the worst ice melt ever recorded during three decades of observation using satellites, NASA scientists said. The findings were released Tuesday by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, which cooperates with environmental researchers at the University of Colorado in measuring and interpreting the satellite data.
