Some of them are real. But they require that you sign up for a bunch of stuff you don't want and to give your friends e-mail addresses and for them to sign up for stuff to. Only after that will you get the item they are offering.

Nothing is really free, to get the gift you have to either fill in your life history, or are asked to illegally give other people's info, or register for something more expensive than the gift.
