One thing you can do to manage pain is to decrease the number of periods you have. With birth control pills, you can go up to one year without a period, according to doctors.
Your first step is to see your gyno, and have the cyst evaluated, if you have nto done so already. Then, find out if you can get on BC, and confirm that it will be okay for you to skip all your periods for one year.

You probably all ready know this but your ovaries drop the egg to be fertilized if not fertilized then you have your menstrual cycle which flushes the unfertilized egg away. I assume that this is why your cyst acts up worse you should really go to a gynecologist for this. However, they will not remove a cyst unless it is causing problems and it sounds like yours is so if you don't already have a gynecologist find a good one in your town.

i do know that this is normal. ovarian cysts always hurt worse at period time.
i was told by a doctor it's because they fill up with fluid around your period time and then burst , then repeat this the next month . i have no idea if he knew what he was talking about but mine finally went away on it's own. i do know that they can remove them if they are constantly a problem. you should see your gynecologist about this again.,

I went through the same thing and had to go see my obgyn. He prescribed me birth control to help break it up, but that didn't work for me. I had to get it removed surgically. It hurt also during sex and it started out just during my periods. When my period came on I had black blood and could barely move. You need to see a dr because I waited and mine became the size of a softball and it casued me major pain not only during my period but all the time.
