The main ingredient is Acetaminophen. Which is a pain reliever. Too much of that over time can cause liver damage. The sleep aid is Diphenhydramine. You can look that up to see the warnings about it. If you're looking for something to help you sleep, try Chamomile tea. It's nontoxic.

best sleep ever, but if you read the question I just asked, you will see you have better options. If you just need help sleeping you want a pill that has Diphenhydramine in it. I don't have any tylenol pm around me, but I think tylenol is about 38mg of this, and the sleeping pills sell at either 25 or 50mgs.

If you have never taken these pills, trust me when I tell you to either try them on a night that waking up early is not important to you, or take them on a night that you can go to bed really early so that you can have the effect wear off in time to wake up. Waking up with that drug in your system is never enjoyable...and if you are really not used to them, your face will feel a little funny, (like it's sleeping.) for a while. You can wake up with them...but you will hate every moment of that morning!

Read my question though, cuz I on the other hand I can take 5 at 10pm and wake up just fine at 6:30 the next morning. Soooo, it's not a sleeping pill, and Tyenol is not addictive...but you can sure build up a tolerance!

Oh, and by the way, it can screw up your liver and that can be fatal...slow and agonizing, or fast and painful...be careful.

Tylenol PM has the same ingredients as regular Tylenol. It is formulated to work at night. I used it because I have restless leg syndrome and it eased the pain and settled the nerves in my legs so I could sleep. Any pill you take you can overdose on them.I would take them once every four hours as listed on the bottle.

Tylenol is a pain reliever it also helps with sleep and accidental overdose will not harm you, then again if you took a couple of bottles you could have your last sleep

It is not a sleeping pil. It is a pain reliever that has a very mild relaxant. YES!!!! An overdose can be fatal.

Yes. And kind of, it will make you sleepy but not the same way sleeping pills will. Please don't take the whole bottle all at once.
