first line up the two equations
6s-2t=10
1s-5t=14

we notice that 6s-1s will result in 5s
in order to subtract the two equations we must multiply the bottom equation by -1 then add them

6s-2t=10
+
-s+5t=-14
---------------
5s+3t=-4
thus the answer is -4
