dude. you can't tell the future.
you'll know when you know.
it'll just happen, but the chances of a problem flying compared to a car accindent are miniscule

There are too many sounds on an aircraft for anynthing less that an explosion to tell you anything. Gear coming up, slats and flaps retracting on takeoff, all of the above being deployed on approach. If the masks drop, that means likely rapid decompression and you'll hear the boom before the masks come in to view. To be completely honest I'd look for two things. First is if the wing looks like the inside of an old freezer with a HUGE ice buildup. That means the pilots blew the anti ice boots too early, but even then they'll know and will probably have announced you'll be landing elsewhere. The other is turbulance. Sounds scary, but light turbulance is like hitting speed bumps, moderate is like hitting speed bumps well past the speed limit, severe turbulance means the pilot can only keep the wings reasonably level and can't keep a consistant altitude and extreme means you're going from level to upside down in an instant. I only worry about severe as a passenger. Basically if you find yourself suddenly upside down or see something on fire, you're OK. Can't tell you how many people I've flown as a passenger beside who freak out over light turbulance. I'm not making fun of them but no need to worry about a few bumps.

How do you know if something bad is going to happen?! That's easy. There is usually an announcement that goes like this "Lunch will be served in ten minutes" That gives you ten minutes to pray for one of the following:
- Engine failure
- Terrorist attack
- The rapture (hopefully you are one the 'chosen people' that get taken to heaven)
- An upgrade to first class (probably the least likely thing to happen)
- A stewardess asks you to come and join the 'Mile high club' while lunch is being served.
- They need you to safely pilot the plane home because both the pilot and co-pilot are suffering chronic food poisoning.
I'm yet to eat a decent meal on a flight. It is almost guaranteed that you will eat bad food when you fly. You've been warned.

If there were problems with the airplane, the crew would inform you. Of course, they would not bother you with minor situations that are not life-threatening. Contrary to what some people believe, the crew prefers well-informed passengers who would follow instructions if there was an emergency. There is no reason why they would hide the facts from you, since they would want everyone to be safe. Airline incidents receive a lot of publicity due to their size. However, the old adage that you are safer in an airplane than you are in a car is very true. I'm sure you've witnessed more auto accidents than airplane incidents.

When the flight attendant looks worried, otherwise, there are lots of bumps and weird noises that are harmless. I hate flying and have to be sedated. I watch the attendants like a hawk the whole flight.
Whatever you do, don't watch Final Destination the original. He gets these horrible preminitions before he gets on the plane and they all come true.
I think about that movie evry time I fly.

You don't and won't until you hit the ground upside down. No but seriously...planes are safer than riding in a car. If something bad is gonna happen. there's nothing YOU can do. Just relax and enjoy the flight!
Good Luck!

You dont until the breathing bags drop from the ceiling and the cabin crew tell you to put your head between your legs.
Just take a heavy sedative that way you wont even know something is wrong.

When the guys in the jumpsuits stand outside the plane's wing and point at it with strange looks on their faces. Just grab the airsickness bag and go.

well if the pilot says put on ur seat belts we have an emergency landing or if he or she says.. put on your oxygen masks. You dont have to panic if u go thru a little bit of turbulence when plane shakes thru the changes in wind or air up there. they will let you know. sit on a wind seat to see wings and hear the fans of the motor. I suggest to take a zanax or benadryl before hand.

hmm theres lots of signs. the captain will tell you to fasten your seatbelt, the stewardess might have panicked looks on there faces and they seem to moving much faster then usual, you might hear something over the intercom about "please stay calm" and other small signs. the most common sign of plane failure is your imagination. 95% of the time, its just the flight jitters. dont worry so much about it ^^
tip* bring a musi player. that ALWAYS helps me relax
