I want to learn how to dance like the stars but it seems like it costs a fortune. Also give advice on the best music.

It doesn't cost a fortune if you go to group classes, rather than hiring a private instructor. Sure the progress will be slower than that of the stars, when they had the best coaches in the country spending hours on end teaching them, but again you probably don't want to dance all day either. Just find some evening classes that you enjoy, and you will be dancing in no time. Here is a good website where you can find music samples and places to dance, as well as videos of basics steps for your reference: http://www.ballroomdancers.com

Snowflake is correct - group lessons are much more affordable (and, in my opinion, more fun!) than private lessons, although you learn faster and more accurately with private lessons.

You should, however, be aware that there are several variations of the Tango - the showy Ballroom Tango style danced on Dancing with the Stars is very different to the soulful Argentine Tango danced in the cafes of Buenos Aires, which is different again to the Argentine Tango danced on stage in Argentina.

Learn a little about the different variants of Argentine Tango before starting classes; and then take up the style you most relate to. :)

Don't worry about music for the time being; when you learn the dance, you will develop an appreciation for the appropriate music. :)

Which Tango? -- Argentine Social? Ballroom? International? Stage?

Where do you live -- City State? That would help direct you to good sources -- some of which are free.
For example, in New York City the Argentine Consulate offers free Tango lessons on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from noon to 2:00 p.m. And there are many places to both practice and dance that are free.

Also, Youtube has many tango clips that feature instruction.

The Song on the SHALL WE DANCE soundtrack at their tango scene is the song where I learned tango, and the steps I learned are like this: BASIC STEPS
T (right foot goes back)
A (left foot goes back)
N (right foot goes back)
G (Left foot goes straight to your side)
O (right foot meets your left to the side)

This is another move for flair:
T (Right foot to your right side)
A (left foot to your right side in front of your right foot)
N (right foot to your right side slightly forward.)
G (left foot to your right side but BEHIND you)
O Right foot meets up with your left foot and you are now turned to your left.

There I hope those basic steps help you! :)
