The United States became a manufacturing powerhouse, because Europe and Asia needed rebuilding.
Most of Europe's manufacturing infrastructure was destroyed during the war, and Asia's took a similar but not as bad a hit.
Because massive materials were required to rebuild everything, the United States benefited greatly. This is what sparked our prosperity in the 50's and forward to today to some extent.

First of all it affected the US since they were involved in it. Thousands of people died in WWII, this would have a large effect on a nation.
One good thing that it did was to help get the US out of the great depression. Since all of the sudden anyone could have a job since, the men were gone to war and stuff needed to be built for the war. This lead to great economic prosperity in the 1950s.
Another effect it had was it caused a baby boom and the birth of the baby boomer generation. Since all the men were away at war it was hard to have many children, but then they got home and there was a huge spike in births.
There are many more ways that WWII affected the US, but these are few large ones.

Japan was the one who forced us into the war because they destroyed our naval fleet at Pearl Harbor. We bombed them at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Its funny becuase Japan ended up losing the war costing them to give up korea.
