I have 4 guppies, 2 platies, 3 black skirt tetras, 2 algae eaters, 1 red tetra, and 5 red eye tetras. Do you think angel fish would do well? I had a tank full of guppies and the other groups had plenty of pals too until a batch of platies from Petsmart contaminated my tank. 22 Fish died in a week. Now my tank looks really bare.

Sure, go ahead and add an angel fish. =) They're certainly beautiful -- I wish I had space for one myself, haha. For your tank, I would only add one at this point, because if for whatever reason you got a breeding pair, your tank would turn into a hell hole. Angels are pretty docile (Or at least most of them) normally, but when it comes to breeding time they're incredibly aggressive. Also, if you get a small angel fish and let it grow (It will grow very quickly in your 55 gallon, no worries. =]), it will be less likely to eat your existing fish. It will most likely still eat the fry of the platies and guppies, but I'm not sure this is a bad thing, haha. If you wanted a few more of the guppies and platies, save a few from a couple pregnancies, but I suggest simply letting nature take its course.
Instead of mollies, I would add more to your schooling fish numbers. Something like this would look really nice:
1 angel fish
2 algae eaters
2 platies
4 guppies
8-10 black skirt tetras
8-10 black skirt tetras
8-10 red tetras
Tetras aren't very heavy on the bioload, so adding more of them isn't going to affect your filter very much. Also, if you wanted to consider live plants (Maybe you already have them?) then they will help with any added ammonia/nitrite that would result from the slightly elevated numbers. =) Plus, plants add a natural beauty to a tank that honestly can't be replicated, even with silk plants.
Hope this helps, and good luck! =)

you can add Angels, BUT you they have to be smaller than the rest of your fish. So you would need babies. Angels unlike their name have a real nasty attitude and are agressive fish. If you get small ones and they grow up in the tank with everybody they shouldnt have a problem with everybody else when they become older. As for the mollies, they are fine and dandy for your tank, they are great community fish. Just becareful with the angels.
You could also add a betta to the group. I have two bettas in two ten gallon tanks with guppies, platies, a plecostamus, and african dwarf frogs. You could also get some neon tetras or glo light tetras. Just be sure that the fish that you are looking into getting arn't fin nippers or your guppies wont have any fins left.

No. Angelfish can be very aggressive to other fish and possibly kill one another. Getting an angelfish alone need about a 20 gallon tank or more. If you just have 2 angelfish in a 29 or 30 gallon tank, they would be fine but don't add angelfish... Get something else to protect your fish. Also angelfish can get pretty big and their fins can get really long. You need a tank that is actually longer not taller so their fins can grow nice and big. Hope this helps! Also I suggest getting 2-3 more tiger barbs cause they can get aggressive to and they do better in groups of 4-5.

I would'nt add the angelfish if i were you. Angelfish are very territorial fish. They are also very agressive. Even though they are agressive fish they are still really hard to keep and maintain b/c they are very delicate creatures. they die very easily. Which means that if you put them in a contaminated tank they might die. If they dont die they might kill the other fish. You also want to make sure that you never get 2 male angelfish together. (unless their very young). They will fight until one of them eventually dies. Another thing is a filter. you always need a filter to keep the cage clean and sanitary for them. But make sure the filter is not to strong for them if it is it will suck them to it and that can kill them. So if you want to have some angelfish. Put them in a seperate tank than the other fish and make sure they are of the opposite sex. And make sure that you get some pretty colored ones!
But the mollies are fine they dont usually harm other fish. But it is hard to keep them sometimes b/c they breed like rodents. The male is hard to keep from the females without separating them. The females once pregnant can hold the babies in her stomach for up to six months. They usually have between 6-12 babies each time but the babies are the main problem. They are hard to keep fed and living. The mother and other mollies will eat the babies so you have to put the babies in a seperate tank. Then to feed them get this fish food that looks like goldfish food that is called tropical fish flakes and mash it up into tiny peices to feed them.
So my vote is to go with the mollies not the angelfish.

you can put angel fish but remember they will eat guppies and smaller fish. However they can only eat what will fit in their months. It would be good also if their are many hiding places and plants in the tank. I mean good for the survival of any smaller fish. They tend to grow big if given a big tank that is not to populated. They will also reproduce in the tank but for this to be successful the couple must be alone. Make sure to look to the link it gives the detailed information that your looking for..good luck
PS. I would get babys they grow fast

angels would be fine in a mixed tank like yours. i wouldn't add any mollies as they are live bearers and require a moderate amount of salt to be added to the water that can harm all your other fish. your guppies and platys you have are also live bearers, but don't require the salt molies need to flourish. good luck, and remember you get what you pay for. so pick out a nice trio of silver dollar sized angels and enjoy!

I actually have a tank with almost all of the fish you mentioned as well as 2 angel fish and black mollies. They all seem to get along fine except that the angel fish get really big and they eat very small fish...try not to have baby fish in there b/c they will get eaten very quickly once the angel fish get bigger. Other than that the angel fish are my favs out of them all!! Very pretty....the black mollies are very friendly and like to have babies!!....often....trust me. Hope this helps you out!!

DO NOT add Angel Fish to your tank. They will eat your other fish. They are Chiclids and they are aggressive despite their elegant beauty.
