John didn't have much success when he raced Indy cars before, winning only one race (Australia). But to be honest, he didn't have the best equipment, which is vital in this type of racing.
The 222.8 that he did today at least shows he's not only back, but can be competitive. It's a shame he doesn't have a full season ride, because he belongs in Indycars.

Your prayers have been answered... It's not gonna matter though. As much as I like John-Boy Andretti, he has probably already won his last race.
From the Indianapolis Star:
4:30 p.m. -- Andretti getting comfortable
On his first run of the day, it didn't take long for John Andretti to realize something: This isn't NASCAR anymore.
"When I went out," the former stock car driver said, "(cousin) Michael (Andretti) came running out there and said: 'You can't run that line! That's a NASCAR line!"
Andretti's mistake came as little surprise, though, as the two-time winner on the Winston Cup Series was in an Indy car for the first time at Indianpolis Motor Speedway since 1994.
His 60-lap run in the Panther Racing No. 33 car was a little shaky, Andretti said, but he came in with a fast lap of 216.737, third among non-qualifiers today.
"And I don't know what I'm doing yet," Andretti said. "It shows a lot about the team."
Through four hours of practice, Andretti had the 14th fastest lap out of the 23 drivers to take the track. Andretti said he expected to make one more run late in the day, mostly to get comfortable in the car.
Penske teammates Sam Hornish Jr. and Helio Castroneves each took the track in their backups, but came far from bringing them up to speed, neither getting much more than 100 mph.

I just read this a few minutes ago over on Jayski. Though it may take a little while getting used to saying Camping World Truck Series, it will soon sound normal. I still, on occasion, refer to the Nationwide Series as the Busch Series. With all of the changes after Winston left the Cup series, I just call it Cup. What does this mean for KHI's 33 truck sponsorship? Or did I miss that in the article? I might have ot go double check that now that I am thinking about it.

John Andretti should be thankful for ANY ride,in ANY series. He hasn't lived up to the ANDRETTI name very well. He's a good driver but not a great driver.Right now if he has a paying gig in either series,he needs to protect it.

Seems that John is intrested in Indy as with any Andretti. The NASCAR races seem to be a "hobby"sport to him.He is a competitor and is well capable to win in any racing division he wants to run in,with the right equipment.
I wish him bestof luck with Indy this year.

Sure, he's only running part time Nextel Cup, and he doesn't seem that thrilled about it.

yes, he's proven over the years that he doesn't have the talent to hack it in NASCAR, so i agree, he should go to the IRL
