Check your wireless router's configuration and make sure it is at maximum power. Try moving the router so that there are less hard objects blocking signal transmission. Hard object at the rear is OK because it tends to act as signal reflector. If you have a 2.1Ghz cordless phone in between the router and the PC, it may interfere w/ the router's signal.
In case your router is the old type (802.11b) or the wireless adapter in the PC is only 802.11b, then you are out of luck because they have limited range.

This is due to you not being able to receive a signal because you are too far away from the router. I personally own a signal booster and it's well worth the money, I can use the internet out in the yard but most importantly on the other side of the house. http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WSB24-Wireless-B-Signal-Booster/dp/B000085BD7 is an example of a signal booster, but you will have to purchase one based on the company of your router. Go to a local store (circuit city, best buy, compusa) and ask the desk which booster you should get after you show them your router model.

how far away is the router? can you see the router from the corner of the house where you can't get a signal?
if you can't, consider the physical obstructions. it's similar to soundwaves. walls, curtains, bookshelves full of (guess what) books - they weaken the signal...
so yeah, consider the position and location of the router.
