to me, it means that each person, in a sense, creates their own life, they alone decide what is true, what they believe, what they accept from others in the world,,,,, your own thought or concept, is no less then a noted philosophers,,,,,it is keeping in mind that everything we are taught, was at some time thought up by another human being, just like you

it means being forced to answer for your own behaviors -- why many people find in horrible i think is you don't have a god to throw all the crap you do on -- you have to take responsibility for yourself
