Yes, the WRT54GS is 802.11b compatible, so it should work with a 802.11b device. And yes, most recent wireless routers will work with 802.11b devices. That being said, you may have mixed results when mixing various brands of wireless equipment, even different lines of the same brand, or different firmware versions of the same product. Typically, enough adjuments and settings are provided to get things to work if they don't work right out of the box, but may require some fiddling.

From the spec sheet
:
Wireless-G Broadband Router with
SpeedBooster
Specifications
Model Number WRT54GS
Standards IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11b

YES, they are all backward compatible with 802.11b. Sometimes you may have to enable it in the router's configuration. But do take note of the shorter range capability of 802.11b.

Yes, it is backwards compatible. By default it is in Mixed mode transmitting in both b and g signals. You can also use the web based interface, by opening up FF or IE then type 192.168.1.1 (by default and your pw is admin), and specifying if you want Mixed, B only, or G only.
