Well, I think since your so smart, you pack your stuff and leave. Go and find you a job and support yourself. See, your parents have done that for 17 years. They had food for you, a roof over your head and clothes on your back. What is your issue with your parents??? They want you to keep your room clean, pick up around the house, help with other duties at home???

You poor poor person. How dare they expect you to be a responsible person and pick up and keep part of where you live nice and clean.

While you know so much, good luck getting a job and paying your bills. When you are cold, hungry and wonder why you messed up, your parents will still be there waiting for you to call. THAT is having a safety net.

If you're 17 and still living at home you might want to rethink it. When I was 16 I was long gone. Who needs the heartache. Your folks sure don't. Why not just get a job and split. BTW, did I mention getting the job first

Depending on where you live, you can petition to be made an emacipated minor. However, you have to show you can support yourself. Honestly, you have a year before you're an adult. Unless you're being abused, and not just made to help out and take care of yourself, it would be quicker to just hold off for your birthday.

The other alternative is to see if you can get in the military early.

It's called Emanipated Minor Status.

If you are almost 18, don't bother. Unless you have some *serious* problems with them. Especially if it involves abuse.

Talk to a lawyer or School Councilor.

Why don't you just leave? It will cost you much less money and they will be more forgiving towards you when you grow up and see it really wasn't as bad as you thought.
