Poor, but with good morals. The morals are more important than being rich and hedonist.

My son is becoming a good man. He is learning to be heads down in school, and he gets along with the one sister who is still home. He is always respectful of me, even if he does slide on his chores sometimes.
He's 14. He's kinda goofy, but I can see he will grow into someone who can be responsible and loving.
He is being raised in a household that values good morals, an education, and a sufficient paycheck. I don't think one is mutually exclusive of the other.

Poor but with good morals. You can be rich in spirit, without having wealth in the worldly sense. Much more important.
My husband and I have a son and a daughter, and are blessed every day that they are wonderful people, a credit to themselves and great friends to others.
That is worth more at soul level, than any worldly riches.
