Zeus is the King of the Greek pantheon on gods. Like all the Greek gods, he has the faults of humans. He's got a checkered history with women and his Queen, Hera, is always on him about it. He also likes to unload thunderbolts on people that tick him off. He's a god, you know? Better not call him a jerk unless you want him to unload some thunderbolts on *your* a ss.

No more than man is.

The Greek Gods have negative aspects shown for themselves. While many see Zeus as an adulterous bastard [he is], they forget that along with those he is very compassionate. Many myths have him helping the whole of humanity, as well as going out of his way to save his children.

Zeus is primarily a sky and law God.

What's quite scary is when you realize how many law makers are like Zeus, with adultery and arrogance.

Not as big a jerk as Hades! When Hades set his sights on Persephone, he had to have her, no matter what. This caused Demeter (Persephone's mom) to weep and cry and mourn. Zeus ordered Hades to return Persephone to earth. A deal was made and 1/2 the year she lives underground with Hades, making the seasons of Fall and Winter, and the other half she lives above ground, making Demeter happy and making the seasons of Spring and Summer.

He cheated on his wife, Hera, who was his sister as well! She was jealous and did spiteful things like making his girlfriends suffer. Both of them did good stuff too but Zeus was famous for getting up to no good.

Well, Yes. He cheated several times on his wife, Hera. He did not even think twice about it. If he saw a women he wanted, He would either trick her into sleeping with him, or they would be so anamored at the thought of him being zeus, that they would sleep with him anyway. He used so many women. So yes he was a big jerk.
