So, I got my internet hooked up and everything was all hunky-dory, until I tried to secure it. I am using the linksys wireless-G cable gateway with wireless router. I went through the web to the IP 192.168.0.1 to try to secure the network, and used the one-touch security button thing. Long story short, I finally got my security unlocked so other computers on the network can use it, but I still cannot connect my own computer wirelessly, only using an ethernet cable. I pick up the signal, but it seems like it is frozen or something. I NEED HELP!!! Can someone please tell me what is going on and how to fix it?

your computer picks up the signal and then freezes? hmm.. that's a first. are you using windows xp? your wireless zero configuration in services.msc could be acting up.

try this:
click start > run > type services.msc > click ok > look for wireless zero configuration in the services list > right click it, choose properties > click stop > apply > ok.

restart your computer. repeat the steps to go back to the services window and start wireless zero again.

then retry the wireless. if it still doesn't work, you might need a different wireless client.

This site helped me a lot! The hardest part of setting up my wireless network was securing it and then wirelessly connecting my Laptop. What nightmare!

After you get it working use the 'EasyLink Advisor' to print out your settings. Trust me, there will come a time when you'll need it.
