Laughter is light, weight lifting.
Tears are a medium, lile a sea. Hope is the vehicle, like a boat. If you have little hope you sink. If you have much hope, it can carry more weight. Laughter lightens the weight temporarily. You decide how much weight you will carry by the things you make important to you. If you decide to add more weight by taking on more drama in your life, your life becomes fuller. So, you see, it is a balancing act, and, you are responsible for all the excitement and grief you bring into your life.

Now you know how it works; it is all up to you.

Yes.
The answer is time and maturity.
Once we have enough life experiences behind us, we are better able to see the events in perspective. Look at each event in your life as a learning experience.

I'll give you an example from my life. I lived in Whittier, CA when a big earthquake hit. There was alot of damage to my house, but all I cared about was that my family came through it safely.

I can laugh because the most important things to me were safe.
