Pencil lead is actually graphite (a form of carbon). Carbon is relatively harmless...for example if you have to have your stomach pumped doctors use carbon to soak up any toxins. It's also used in Brita and aquarium filters. So I don't think you're going to need to panic about that. However if it's not closing up it might be b/c it's in a bad place; joints are hard to heal. It sounds like you've done what you should by seeing a nurse, now I would rinse it a few times a day with hydrogen peroxide to prevent bacteria from growing in there. You can also use either Neosporin or Solarcain b/c they both usually contain lidocaine. That will numb any pain and usually also prevent bacteria. If it doesn't get better or you get worried, see your nurse again or tell your parents to take you to the doctor.
I'm sure you'll be fine in no time!

Pencils are not and were never made with lead. It's only called a pencil "lead" because it looks a bit like lead - it's actually a soft carbon called graphite.
If there's pus coming out and redness, there's an infection. Treat it with an antiseptic cream like Germoline or something, put a plaster on it and change the plaster every day, applying more cream before you put a new one on.

It appears to be ok as long as you dont have a piece of lead sticking out of the area. On the safe side you could put an antibiotic on it and cover with a bandaid just to be safe. Good Luck.

It sounds infected. Pencils today are made out of graphite, and you couldnt have gotten enough of that to get graphite poisoning. Put hydrogen peroxide on it, and if you wish Neosporin and a band-aid.

It's made with graphite, not lead. You probably have a slight infection caused by the germs that were on the graphite when it punctured your skin. So don't start giving all your stuff away, you won't be dying anytime soon!

Iknow of a boy who was stabbed in the back with a pencil. The sharp bit is still in his back today. Your finger is probably infected. The nurse would know what to do.
