i searched on the internet some said dress shirt and some sites said polo shirt which is it

Yes it is, I work at an insurance company in CT and that is pretty much what everyone wears.

I thought business casual was a shirt and tie without a jacket.

I think that you would be fine as long as everything is pressed and your shoes are clean. Although a button-down collared shirt would probably be better.

it can be OK...depends on the situation. if you did wear it, be sure to tuck the shirt in and wear a belt.
