The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the first of the Chronicles of Narnia series and a very good read.
Have you read Which Witch? I loved that story, here's a link to the summary on it:

The Judy Bloom and Beverly Clearly books are classics as well that are an enjoyable read although they are more comedy than fantasy.

Have you read Eragon? If so, try the sequel, Eldest.
They are by Christopher Paolini.
The Artemis Fowl books are good, too. (by Eoin Colfer)
Also- books by R.A. Slavatore are very good. Try Exile.
These are all fantasy books.
If you want more ideas and suggestions, go to your local public library and ask the Young Adult Librarian or the Teen Librarian to help you find books in your interest areas.

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke (Its sequels are Inkspell & Inkdeath)
The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke
Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke
The Keys to the Kingdom Series by Garth Nix
The Witches by Roald Dahl (he has other good books too)
Eragon (The Inheritance Trilogy) by Christopher Paolini
Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
Magyk (Book one of the Septimus Heap Series) by Angie Sage
That's all I can remember right now but those books I started reading since I was in sixth grade too. And most of these are best sellers. They are my all-time favorites.

I volunteer in the local middle school library and some of the more popular books are the Eragon books. There are a whole bunch of fantasy series. Go to your school or town library and ask your librarian. They usually have a good handle on what's popular.

Have you ever read "The Giver" by Lois Lowry? It's a science fiction book written about a 12 year old boy named Jonas. Jonas' society has eliminated pain and strife by converting to a plan which has eradicated emotional depth from their lives and moved his society to "SAMENESS". Jonas receives his chosen occupation which reveals much to him about his world & society. (This description doesn't sound NEARLY as good as the book).
Despite controversy and criticism that the book's subject material is inappropriate for young children, The Giver won the 1994 Newbery Medal for outstanding literature for children.

Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen (SP?) is really good. It's about this boy who is stranded in the wilderness in a plane crash. It moves fairly fast and is a great read. My teacher assigned it in 6th grade and I read it all in two days. This is a great book for anyone, no matter the intrest. Hope that helps!

What type of genres do you usually enjoy? (fiction, historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, etc)
Try Piers Anthony's "Adept series". It's definitely fantasy, with a little bit of sci-fi because one world is science, the other is fantasy. It's also great because if you like the first book ("Blue Adept") there are 6 more! (Plus he has tons of other series; 'Adept' is by far my favourite though.)
