I have two miniature horses and their cost for injections, hoof care and deworming is the same as a big horse. Please be careful when feeding grain as they do not need that much. Mine get 250ml grain in the morning and at night. If you over feed they could get laminitis. They make wonderful pets but can get cheeky because everyone spoils them. I have also found that my two are great little escape artists, so make sure your fencing is adequate.

aI have a mini that is in an area about a lenghth of a dog run but I let him out in my back yard during the day.They don't need shoes just trimmed ,I weigh my horses food at a feeding the horses get 6 lbs of hay my mini gets 2 1/2 lbs.hardley any poop 2 clan.I drive him hes so much fun.Yes you do save big time verses a horse trust me.

Well it is the same care as a horse but in smaller quanities so it costs less. They are also less because they usually dont require shoes or as musch food too! For the turn out, if you only have one pasture for them, I would make it big because then they wont eat all of the grass in the field. But if it was smaller, all the grass would be gone! I love those little minies!

Everyone here seems to be correct although one major thing missing...I have had many and trust me if there is not good fencing they are wonderful escape artists. wherever the green grass is they will escape to , and be careful as they do founder much easier than a larger horse if given too much grain or rich hay. I adored my mini but also if too much weight put on them, they love to buck because of the weight.
