Why does my motorcycle make a loud "clicking" sound when I upshift??? Is this bad for my trans??? Is there something that I am doing wrong? If it makes a difference I ride a 07 Kawasaki Ninja 500R.

It is normal to hear when your shifting in 1st from nuetral but if your hearing it shifting into higher gears shift into them at lower speeds i think it happeneds because your engine is spinning slower than your tranny or vise versa so the gears smack the clutch so i wouldnt do it because it is very stressful for the tranny to force it into gear like that

Without hearing the noise, I'd have to agree with "trashy"
A 2 cylinder EX500 isn't exactly a race bike. The transmission tolerances are a little sloppy for new riders. An in-line 4 cylinder sport bike transmission is a lot tighter (race readiness)
If the sound is unsettling, bring it to a shop and have a mechanic take it for a ride.
Don't pay a dime, and get a second opinion.
Bring it to a Kawasaki dealer, it should still be under warranty.
Keep the repair order for future referral. If the trani goes bad after the warranty runs out, you'll have proof there was a problem and Kawasaki should repair any damage.

Could you give a bit more detail? Are we talking a single 'click' as you shift into gear, or a continuous 'click-click-click' after you have shifted and released the clutch?
The first is fine, the second...hmmmm..maybe not.

What the others said above, but first:
Check the oil level. If it's low, add some oil.

Try switching to full synthetic motorcycle oil, that will quiet down your transmission a bit.
