A store is selling a video game system for $100. Game cartridges are $40 each. The sales tax is 6% of the total price for all items.

a. Write an expression for the total, with tax, of one game system with g [the variable] amount of cartridges

b. A customer bought several games, and the total cost was $360.40. Write and solve an equation to find how many games the customer bought.

system + games + tax
100 + 40g + .06(100 + 40g) = total price

360.40 = 100 + 40g + .06(100 + 40g)
distribute through parentheses
360.40 = 100 + 40g + 6 + 2.4g
subtract 100 and 6 from both sides
combine like terms (g)
254.4 = 42.4g
divide by 42.4
g = 6
The customer bought 6 games

store is selling a video game system for $100. Game cartridges are $40 each. The sales tax is 6% of the total price for all items.

a. Write an expression for the total, with tax, of one game system with g [the variable] amount of cartridges
100/6= 16.6 cents so 100 plus 17= $100.17 + Gtimes$40
b. A customer bought several games, and the total cost was $360.40. Write and solve an equation to find how many games the customer bought.You need more info to determine how much several is and then divide the price of all by that number that will give the total of one.

a. {($100+$40g) x 6%} + ($100+$40g)

{($100+$40g) x 6%} = Tax
($100+$40g) = Actual items

$100 is the price of the game system, and it's constant because you're only buying one. $40 is the cost of a cartridge, but it is multiplied by g (the number of cartridges you buy) because it's cost depends on how many you purchase. The total cost of the game system and the cartridges is then multiplied by 6%, or .06 (6/100) to receive the amount you'd pay in taxes. You then add this to ($100+$40g) because this is the actual cost of the items while the other is only tax

b. Next, set the whole equation to $360.40 (the price of the total purchase) and solve for g, the number of cartridges purchased.

{($100+$40g) x 6%} + ($100+$40g) = $360.40
Distribute the 6%, .06
6 + 2.4g + 100 + 40g = 360.40
106 + 42.4g = 360.40
42.4g = 254.4
g = 6

24 = .06 * (100 + (g(40))

The 24 is the tax, and G is the variable (number of cartriges). If you solved the equation, G=5 in this instance

Well for part a)

Total = (100 + 40G) + .06 x (100+40G)

The first part in parenthesis takes care of the total cost while the second set of parenthesis takes care of the total tax.

b)

just plug 360.40 into the TOTAL in the equation above and solve for G

i'm a sprint puzzled via the ten & 2--isn't that for palms on the steerage wheel? I look looking the anal sacs extra at 5 & 7... or perhaps 4 & 8. when you have completed it as quickly because it is going to likely be old hat. The technique is comparable to quickly as you have placed them, they experience like 0.5 a grape (sorry, probably sworn you off of grapes now for all times.). a delicate stress from the returned of the anal sac gently in direction of the exterior, you will experience the fluid expressing. upload to Thwarted- thank you to your correction (no TD from me via ways). Your answer made me give up and picture for a minute however--hmm..what the heck have I been expressing at 5 & 7, if the sacs are at 10 & 2?
