:] I don't like it because of manga or anime... I never watch it. It's my favorite flower and it also happens to be Japanese, a culture I'm interested in. However... is it weird if I name my baby girl [which will be like in a decade ^.^ haha] Sakura?

* It means "cherry blossom," like as in the tree. :D

It's a lovely name and also a Japanese word that at least some of the English-speaking world will recognize, not just from manga but from an old famous Japanese song, Sakura, Cherry Blossoms.

I LOVE IT! It's a beautiful Japanese girl name. Forget manga and anime because none of that stuff matters. Nobody cares anyway. My sister's nickname is Sakura. How about Sakura Mae?

Name your baby girl with a name SHE won't be ashamed of when she grows up... Do it for HER, not for YOU...

Sakura seems like a nice name..., but you will have to see what her last name is so it will have a nice rhym to it...

I think that if you are going to name your baby after a flower or something, then name her something like Lily or Rose.

I think she will definatly get picked on in school. It is too easy for a fourth grader -"Sakura the sucker". Or the freshman in high school- "Why don't You Sakura me off" or "Sak-u-rass"

It is a beautiful name but I don't think kids in shool would see it that way.
