I just noticed that the underside of one of my dishwasher racks is rusty! I haven't noticed any rust on my dishes, but is this dangerous? I was washing my baby bottles in there!

I don't think you have any thing to worry about. The racks are coated with a rubber like substance. When this rubber cracks the water and the chlorine in the detergent cause the rack to rust. If you live in an area that has hard water this will accelerate the rusting process.

Hi Alex, Most of the time rust comes from the "water heater". You shoud have the water heater checked out, it could be rusted on the inside of the water heater then bringing it in to the machine. Take Care!

I would not worry about health problems over it. Different types of rust are sold as minerals. They are under the name of zinc oxide and other metal oxides.
