I think the American Dream today is to buy things that we can't afford, with money that we don't have, to impress people that we don't like.

At least that seems like what a lot of people are doing.

American lifestyle is a higher standard life lit that could be precious than money that's why it called american dream. If anyone can earn more money then he can save money. But in america money is nothing. american do not care about money. They do not care about money rather than they care about commitment, love, humanity, prestige etc. So, american dream is not saving money.

No. Big House, fancy cars, lifestyle of the rich and famous is the American Dream.

But Saving money should be a high priority for every American. We'll need it later for retirement, a rainy day or large purchase.
